california

You can say that I talk like a "californian". I say all of the typical "dude, tight, sick, dope, etc". I don't know if California is ahead in the new words or slang, I think they just have their words just like we have ours. I have friends that live in Cali and when they come to town they always seem to have some new weird word. Then when I say a word or slang that is widely heard here and they do not understand. I think it goes both ways. that is how language is passed. You pick up something then pass it on and it goes in a cycle.

  1. I'm curious to know then, why don't Californian people pick up lingo from the West or some other part of the U.S?
It's interesting to me, being a Westerner", why DOES so much lingo originate in California. I don't think I use any slang from New York or some other East Coast area?
I think there is certainly a pattern to the adoption of slang in the U.S, I just couldn't tell you exactly what it is.

  2. I think that it is very interesting what you have said, I have never really thought of it that way, I guess I just didn't realize that not everything starts in Cali.
I guess every area has it's own way of speaking even if they are near California or not, I think that a lot of our (everyone's) language is effected by the trends set in Cali., but I like the fact that every city and state is different then the next.

  3. I agree with you I don't think Cali is ahead in the slang they are just a huge freaking state and have many many different types of people. They have their slang just like we have our slang.
