alone
There are a ton of differences in language use between genders. I have noticed a huge difference when I am the only guy among a group of girls that are all friends. They act and talk competely different than when it's more of an equal mix of guys and girls. It seems like they speak faster and louder with eachother and are way more hiper and giddy. It's really wierd. It seems that guys try to do just the oppisite when they greatly outnumber girls. They try to not be as vulgar and a lot of the times try and play the 'cool' card of being a good listener to what the girls are saying and trying to not act as hiper and wierd as they normally are. I don't know if this is with all groups of guys and girls but this is what I've noticed. I've also noticed that girls are so much more supportive in their speech than guys. In general girls love to be validated and affirmed when they are speaking and don't handle jokes and teasing nearly as well as guys. Men on the other hand, don't do a good job of affirming eachother and are often times relentless in their teasing and jokes. It's all very interesting.
I totally agree with you on how women validate each other and men tend to tease each other and make fun of one another.
ReplyDeleteyes it is your observation i dont think it is a right or wrong anwser. and i do agree with you on men joking more than women. the guys are always just joking but girls are more serios.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting that as I get older (26 is hardly older) I tend to joke around less with my male friends as far as name calling and insults go.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I tend to enjoy the company of women more than men because women are much more talkative than men.
Your observations are similar in comparison with my "gender observations." I do many times act the way you described with my girlfriends.
ReplyDeleteThere's one thing I've always noticed about the different interactons I have with men or women. I consider myself a pretty high energy person for the most part, but I can always see the differences in reactions from someone depending on their gender. Girls can many times play right along with me, but there are few guys however, who can "match" my energy levels in that way. Many guys tend to be more reserved (more when their with females) and probably think I'm slighty strange.
Yeah that's interesting that when mostly girls are talking, it's more of 'a party' but then the guys come they have to make sure they are mannerly and proper and their not quite as boisterous.
ReplyDeleteI really liked what you said, you are correct when it comes to the emotional side of speach, girls will take things the wrong way especially if it is said by a guy that she likes.
