To me what was interesting was the web sites that we visited. Involving the KKK and the Alliance Group. When I think about the KKK I totally think about a racial form of people organized and putting together hate crimes against any race other than the white one. When we visited there
web site and at the begginning of there site it stated that we don't stand for hate we stand for love. This was an excellent example of critical discourse and explaining how even in todays world even the racist organizations are not trying to sound like they are racist at all.
I like Bryce's point about how in todays world we use words like love and community to get our point across. But back in the 50's people would use words of hate to scare people into action. They wanted the people to react to feel like they were in danger, to make them angry because that's what made them become involved.
ReplyDeleteNow our society is about group hugs and love. Because its politically correct to be involved with an organization that is promoting "love" even if it is only love for one race.
you know I never thought of it likw that, many of the racist groups dno't want to sound racist, but they believe that one race is better then the other. what you said gave me new light. thanks
ReplyDeleteI liked what you had to say about the KKK. It's true that some people mask their true beliefs and intentions by the words that they use.
