gender and language post 8

I totally agree with the class discussions today. I observed my friends over the past few days and came to the realization that I am a guy and when guys get together they like to talk a lot of "shit" and when they are close friends they are not shy so anything will come out and everyone tries to talk over one another and it becomes a heated battle so prove a point that you are right. Also, our conversations tend to get a lot more crude than when a female is present unless she is within our tight knit circle of friends.
Then I observed my same circle of guy friends when a girl would enter the house and join the conversations. The shy guys would become more quiet and kind of steer clear from the conversation because they might care what the girl would think. Also, the girl was the most talkative I guess the guys would be polite and try and let her get her two cents in before they would try and make a point. Also, the guys when they would try something usually it would not have anything to do with the conversation unless they were not attracted to the female but if the guy was attracted to her it would have nothing to do with the conversation it would be more pick up lines and letting her know how good she looks today and try and get on her good side so maybe he could take her out. And also it was a competition for the guys to see who was the biggest "mack daddy" and could make the female like them the quickest and see which one could get down her pants the quickest. (Excuse my french)
Last I observed a bunch of close knit female friends together. Now this is where it got really loud and a lot of interruptions. It was hard to follow what there conversation was even about because everyone was talking over one another and I could hardly hear myself think. Guys think that they are the most dominate ones when it comes to conversations but after observing everything I would have to say that females take the icing of the cake on that one, if you let a female get going she will not shutup for hours especially if the conversation is something she is involved in or knows anything about. When I was observing them I couldn't keep myself from laughing cause everyone was who likes who and then they would judge that female on why she likes him and what she sees in him or they would agree with her and be like he is a hotty and I would like to hook up with him.
This assignment was very interesting. I realized that females are more dominant than males when it comes to conversing. Guys are really crude when they are with each other and like to talk "shit" on friends or enemies when they are having a convo. When a female enters a guys conversation she becomes the dominant talker and the guys get into a competition mode to see who can pick up the girl the fastest. Last but not least was all the females conversing with one another was just hilarious to watch, I did not realize how crude females can get when they are talking to there girlfriends because when guys are around them they want to be known as "lady like" but when they get together that is farther from the truth.
